Assistance and growing kittens

New pictures of the Language-litter at four weeks of age are uploaded. If you think they are of bad quality, then consider the circumstances in which they were taken... ;) It is not easy to get anything done nowadays as Elias is climbing on everything constantly and Joanna needs attention as well. The kittens are not smart enough to show respect to the curious Elias and loves to run up to him as well. Well, most of the time we keep them totally separated so we at least don't have to worry about squashed kittens and so far Elias has been more or less soft towards them. Joanna helps me to make them easy to handle :)
Why don't we have any reserved or booked kittens? Well, we have lots of interest on both litters (especially on the girls) but we want to wait and see how the little ones develop before making decisions. I believe most breeders agree that it is easier and better to decide when a kitten is closer to five weeks of age than based on pictures on a newborn. So, we wait and see! Nothing is fixed and I hope each kitten will move to the person whom adores it the most ;)

The Language-kittens are just as sweet as we expect from Kiwawa/Enigma-kittens :) Sawai is a copy of mum, always purring and always friendly. Tigrinya is a social girl, running around and wants to be lift up and awfully cute. Illyrian is a promising boy and he knows he is beautiful; a fighter and mummys boy. Blackfoot is watching from afar, but a sweet teddybear with big paws.

The Movie-kittens are growing and developing nicely and we cannot wait to see what will become of each of them. They are starting to open their eyes and it is as amazing as always to look into their eyes for the first time.

Holiday

We took a short but wonderful holiday this weekend. BIG thanks to D for supernice accomodation (always nice meeting you!) and to M for taking such great care of our cats, kittens and house :D

I know I know I know there were no new pictures of the babies at one week, but the plan is to photograph them at 10 days instead... Tomorrow (Monday) I hope to be able to update with 4-week pictures of the Language litter.

Connection

Me and Älva were looking at each other with our respective suckling babies. She looked content and a bit sleepy and at every 'meep' she shifted position slightly to give the kittens better room. Soon she seemed to fall asleep. As Elias had done the same I was tempted to sleep a bit myself ;)

By the way, how decide pattern on a kitten which is totally black on everything but stomach and face and neck?! Well, now Desperado has grown and a mackerel pattern emerged from the black surface, not a blotched one. Perhaps I might be wrong on some of the others as well regarding non-silver ;)

All well!

We are so happy to see that the little ones have been gaining weight quite nicely the last 24hours :)

Language litter 3 weeks

So much happens in just a week! They just look round and fluffy and cute :) Lots of new pictures at our website!

Sad news

Braveheart had no will to eat from neither Älva nor being handfed and was too weak to live :( He was a beautiful boy and we are so sad we never got to see him as fully grown.

The happy news are that all the others have gained weight since yesterday afternoon!

One day old

Älva seem happy with her little ones, purring proudly when we sit next to them. At the first weight check, we noticed that not all of them are gaining weight as they should and one has even lost weight :( Älva seem to have milk and we tried to give the kittens some extra but they did not accept anything. We try our best...

Newborn kittens!

Älva managed everything perfectly like last time and she and the kittens are doing just fine :) It was a big litter for such a small weight gain so they are a bit small, but they all seem full of life and we hope nothing bad will happen. Pictures and information tomorrow!

Outdoor Nessie

In late afternoon, when the sun started to set behind the hill, we took Nessie (Bridget Jones) out for a few photos. It was her first time outdoors since she moved to us (as we have not built a cat run for the girls yet), so it was amazing to see her so relaxed and unafraid of everything. She played with long straws of grass, tried to catch bugs and purred loudly all the time, but no hint of trying to walk away. But on the other hand, she did not pose as she wanted to play instead... Better luck next time, I hope!

Nessie is developing nicely and we are so pleased over her strong boning! With a weight of over 2.5 kilos at 4.5 months of age, she is even bigger than greatgrandmother Kiwawa at the same age and Kiwawa's weight as a grown up is 5.9 kilos. Time will tell...

Birds!

Yesterday morning we heard a strange sound from outdoors. It appeared to be a pair of cranes, residing in our tiny lake close to our house! This morning we heard them again and of course I brought the camera along :)

This little bird is living in our forest. 'Gulsparv' in Swedish, 'Emberiza citrinella' in Latin.

Kittens and kittens

Älva's kittens are expected in a week and maybe a few days from now. She is not that big, so we expect a small litter. She is doing just fine and we can see (and feel) movements inside her belly.

Kiwawa's kittens are such cuties. Tigrinya took a big leap in weight gain (19 grams in one day) and is now the heaviest. They are crawling around on shaky legs and loves attention.

Hello world!

Sawai was the first to open his eyes :) Tigrinya and Blackfoot has one open eye each. I just love to see their look for the first time!

All is well, but Illyrian grew tired of his place in the milkbar and fights for Blackfoot's place instead. As Blackfoot is bigger he wins most of the time so Illyrian is falling a bit behind in weight, but nothing to worry about. No one fights with Tigrinya. Guess she knows how to manipulate boys already ;)

5 days!

The kittens are just sooo sweet :) Little Tigrinya who was the smallest at birth is not far behind the heaviest, Blackfoot. They are all very nice and calm and cuddly, but the biggest heartbreaker in the litter is Blackfoot. He curled up inside my hand earlier today and purred when I cuddled him! After a while he fell asleep and I managed to fetch the camera without waking him up for a cute picture. Just must show you Illyrian also - he is simply beautiful :)

Still fine!

The kittens are still happy and content and Kiwawa is as proud as she always is with kittens of her own :) It is as always fun to sit next to them and watch them interact with each other, and their individual personalities shines through more and more. So curious to see if my guesses about their developments are correct ;) Hopefully I will be able to update our website during the weekend...

All fine :)

The kittens are growing nicely and Kiwawa is a happy mum. The little ones are so cute :) The little girl even gained 18 grams the first day of life! There is a difference in weight gain between the two in the back compared to the two in front, as it usually is. Kiwawa sadly lost two of the good ones when removing the tumour last year.

We still have not managed to find time to fix the webserver and we have no idea when it will be up and running. If someone is curious and cannot wait, I have pictures that can be sent by email instead.

Finally!

Kiwawa woke me up at four this morning, telling me the first kitten was on its way... The first came hindlegs first, but she did just fine. Four kittens were born without problems, all hungry and looking healthy. Mum and kittens are doing just fine.
They look just like ordinary Kiwawa/Enigma-babies :) Theme for this litter will be languages:
* Sawai, male, 102g, brown mackerel tabby with white
* Tigrinya, female, 92g, brown mackerel tabby with white
* Illyrian, male, 104g, red mackerel tabby with white
* Blackfoot, male, 114g, brown mackerel tabby

Nope...

No kittens yet... Kiwawa and the others took the move to the new house impressively good! Bridget spent the first evening chasing flies and the others walked around to find new favourite spots. We made up a closet just like Kiwawa likes it and since Friday evening she has tried to make me sit there to hold her paw, just like she usually do. Big thanks for coming all this way to keep me company, Carolina and Malin - sorry there were no kittens to help deliver ;) So curious to see what's moving in Kiwawa's belly - now I'm getting restless...

Yep - we have a working internet connection, but no webserver - yet. As if we have time to sit by the computer when trying to get the new house in order and emptying the old one... We are grateful for all our friends who have helped us this weekend!
